Cancellation of Christmas Services

Good morning Everyone,

As Stewards we held a Zoom meeting with Rev'd Nico last night to decide how we should proceed with the arrangements for the Carol Services.  (My thanks to all of you who had made 'bookings')

In view of the continuing rise in the number of Covid 19 cases being identified, the heightened risks of spreading wherever groups gather and the average age of our congregation, which places most of us in the 'vulnerable' category, we have decided that it would be imprudent to continue with our plans and therefore the Carol Services on the 20th are now cancelled.  We had also consulted with Jackie Layer and other members heavily involved with the planning of the service, and they also felt strongly that it would be unwise to carry on.

We realise that this is disappointing for many of us, but the possible consequences of ignoring advice in this matter, would be even worse.  Please note that the service on the 27th is alo cancelled.  We shall review the situation in the New Year.

In the meantime, Rev'd Nico will be pleased to take telephone calls from anyone who would wish to talk with her.  We also strongly recommend the weekly internet services from the Circuit, which have been going since March, if you have not yet come across them.  They are very professional in their presentation and have achieved, literally, an international following!  Click here to access it.

Audrey Tupper at the Circuit Office sends out a reminder every week about the service, which includes a full transcript of the service.  If you do not receive this already, please contact Rev'd Nico and she will be pleased to ask Audrey to add you email address to her list.

A series of short YoutTube programmes will also be going out soon from the 13th December, from all the twelve Island parishes, starting with Grouville.  The St.Martin contribution is due to go out on the 18th December.  Keep an eye out for details as to how these may be accessed. (Look in the documents section of this website to find out)

Despite all the restrictions Covid has placed on us, we are truly blessed that through these digital means and others, we can still share in very meaningful worship and meditation and receive real sustenance, spiritually, in this most wonderful of seasons.  God bless you all and I'm sure we would all like to wish one another a most happy and blessed Christmas.

From your Minister and the Stewards of the church
